MARY F. (SNIPES) CLAPPER, 93, of Fort Wayne, died in Fort Wayne, at 3:35 a.m. Born Jan. 2, 1919, in Wellington, Ill., she was the daughter of Thomas and Cecil (Harrell) Snipes. She married Melvin F. Clapper on Sept. 27, 1941, in Shelby ville, Ind., he died March 29, 2000. She was an avid gardener wherever she lived, an excellent cook, especially known for her homemade pies, a voracious reader, and an experienced creative seamstress. "She loved God and her family, the most important aspects of her life. She will be remembered with great fondness and sorely missed by all who knew her." She is survived by daughters, Barbara (Val) Gilstrap of Thompsons, Texas, Janeen (Jay) Miller of Grove Hill, Ala. and Melanie (Joe) Cloutier of Terre Haute; son, Douglas (Chun Ying) Clapper of Fort Wayne; sisters, Juanita Anderson of Bradenton, Fla., Phyllis McFarland of New Castle, Ind. and Nancy Riley of Wapecong, Ind.; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchild ren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Flodell Haskett and Jane Ferguson; four brothers, Thomas, Lewis, Rudy and Fred Snipes; and one great-grandson. Funeral is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2012, at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. The Rev. D. Jayson Miller of Ft.
