ROBERT H. PETERS, 90, was born to eternal life on Monday, April 9, 2012, at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home. "His children are blessed to have had their father's sure and steady presence in their lives. We enjoyed his dry sense of humor and his willingness to indulge his wife's love of dogs. We will always be gratefull that our parents gave us a legacy of love, respect and commitment." Born Nov. 30, 1921 (Thanksgiving Day), he was the youngest child and son of the late H J and Caroline (Moeller) Peters. He graduated from South Side High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945 and was in the 123rd Infantry in the Pacific Theater during World War II. More than 50 years later, he was able to travel with his family to Washington, D.C. to attend the opening ceremony for the Wolrd War II Memorial in June of 2004. He worked for Rea Magnet Wire as an enameler until his retirement in 1986. He was a lifelong member of Grace-St Johns UCC and a member of American Legion Post 296. During his retirement he enjoyed golf and travel. He was a loving husband to Joanne Williams whom he married in 1947 and father to their four children, Jane (Jim) Armstrong of Cedarburg Wis., Marjorie and Mary Baker, both of Fort Wayne, and Joseph (Cindy) Peters of Warsaw. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Laura (Greg) Jones of Wisconsin, Andrew (Rhiannon) Armstrong of California, Hope Baker of Indianapolis, and Luke Baker of West Lafayette; and great-grandchildren, Caleb and Chloe Jones and Abigail Armstrong. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy, Eleanor and Florence; wife, Joanne; and son-in-law, Lynn Baker.
