DONALD R. VOGEL, 81, Angola, passed away on Monday, April 9, 2012. He grew up in Latty, Ohio with six brothers and a sister. He starred in basketball and baseball while attending Latty High School. During this time, he met the love of his life, Betty Flint. They were soon married and enjoyed 57 years together until Betty's death in June of 2010. He retired from General Telephone in 1991. He was a member and past president of IBEW Local 723. During his career, his easy going personality, work ethic and sense of humor afforded him many friends among his co-workers. He enjoyed working around his Crooked Lake home and his time spent with Betty. "Don was the type of person everyone would like to have as a brother, father, grandfather, husband, or friend. He will truly be missed by all who knew him." Survivors include sons, Douglas Vogel of Fort Wayne and Curtis (Jill) Vogel of Brownsburg, Ind.; daughter, Angela Vogel of King George, Va.; brothers, Ralph of Louisville, Ky., John Dunston of Paulding, Ohio; sister, Mary Classen of Archbold, Ohio; grandchildren, Christopher (Jennifer) Vogel, Timothy (Loretta) Vogel, Adam (Courtney) Vogel, Jordan (Carly) Vogel, Shelby Vogel, Demita Vogel, and James Vogel; and great-grandchildren, Jacob, Alyssa and Ashton Vogel. A Celebration of Life is from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 29, 2012, at Fraternal Order of Eagles 3512, 2730 Lofty Drive, Fort Wayne 46808.
