BARBARA "THE QUEEN" SHEPHERD, went to be with her mother, and beloved pet Shep Wednesday May 16, 2012. She was born on Oct. 7, 1937 in Cincinnati, Ohio, daughter of Sydney and Lenora Blevins. She came to live in Fort Wayne with her mother and sister when she was 13. She went on to graduate from Central High School class of 1955. She married Donald Shepherd on April 1, 1960. Together they had four children, Duane L. Shepherd, Lori A. Shepherd (Tammy), Skippy O. Shepherd, LeAnn D. Hile (Chris). She retired from Magnavox after 33 years of service and went on to CNA for 10 years. She was a member of American Legion Post 82 where she served as chaplain and secretary and also waitressed and bartended. She was a devoted member of the Third Street Church Of God for more than 27 years. She became a foster parent until her illness. She enjoyed spending time with her sister Pat and Niece Robin, and watching the birds. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Maggy Blackwell, Nori Shepherd, Alan Murphy (Katlyn), Jazmine Hile, Shasta Hile, Jerrika Kunneke, Shaniese Hile, Klenton Shepherd, and Jesteen Shepherd; great-grandchildren, Eliza Kunneke, Scarlette Murphy, Christian Hile, Nalaya Shepherd, and Carson Shepherd. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lenora L. Jessup; granddaughter, Racheal l. Shepherd; sister, Franny Jones; brother, Larry Jessup; her beloved dog, Shep; and her husband Donald Shepherd. Funeral service is at 1 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2012 at the Third Street Church Of God, Third St. with calling two hours prior. Memorials to the church.
