F. DEAN DECKER, 87, passed away Monday, June 25, 2012, 5:50 p.m., at Kos ciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw. Born Jan. 6, 1925, Warsaw, he was the son of Fred Decker and Lorena (Correll) Decker. On Aug. 12, 1944, he entered the U.S. Army serving during World War II. He was honorably discharged on June 29, 1946. He married Martha Baumgartner on Aug. 17, 1946, in Warsaw; she survives in Warsaw. He was a lifetime resident of Warsaw and a lifetime farmer. He was a 1943 graduate of Mentone High School; member of American Legion Post 49; an avid reader; loved target shooting; removed nuisance animals; loved big band music; and enjoyed Gin Rummy and Euchre. He was a farmer who loved the earth and enjoyed watching his crops grow and produce. He loved and was proud of his family and was very protective of his girls. Also surviving are his five daughters, Judy K. Coplen of Fort Wayne, Barbara (Bruce) Smith of Leo, Cathy (Paul) Northcutt of Warsaw, Deanna (Jim) Swain of Cromwell, and Linda (Craig) Doran of Burket, Ind.; four grandchildren, Zachary (Melissa) Smith, Amanda Smith, Brittany Northcutt, and Ashley Owens; and two great-grandchildren, Kerrick and Korra. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Nelson and Dortha Tucker; and one brother, Dale Decker. Service is 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 30, 2012, at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. Pastor Mike Beezley of Clunette United Methodist Church, in Clunette, Ind. officiating. Burial in Harrison Center, Etna Green, Ind. Military Honors conducted by Warsaw's American Legion Post 49 and V.F.W. Post 1126. Memorials to a charity of donor's choice or simple acts of kindness may be done for others in Dean's memory.
