MARGARET ANN BALENTINE, 92, of Bluffton, passed away Friday morning, July 6, 2012, at 11:45 a.m. at her residence. She was born on January 19, 1920, in Newport, Ky., to William J. and Ann (Thompson) Hollohan. In January of 1943, she enlisted in the United States Navy and served as an Aviation Radio Technician during WWII until October of 1945. She married Conrad James Balentine on June 7, 1947, in Park Hills, Ky. Conrad preceded her in death on September 8, 2005. "She enjoyed a healthy life, much of which she devoted to caring for her daughter, Anne, who was born with multiple physical handicaps, including deafness. When she and Conrad were unable to find a school that could accommodate a child of normal intelligence with such a combination of physical handicaps, she wrote a book and together with Conrad, started a foundation to raise money to start a school. She will be most remembered for her sense of humor, religious devotion, dedication to her family, and generosity to others." Surviving are a daughter, Catherine E. (James) Balentine-Mueller, of Park Ridge, Ill.; six grandchildren, Emily, Nicky, Michael, Elizabeth, John, and Mary Catherine. She is also survived by a close family friend, Marsha Kunasch of Fort Wayne. Along with her parents and husband, Margaret was preceded in death by her daughter, Anne Margaret Balentine in 2010, and a brother, William Hollohan in 1980. A Mass of Christian Burial is at 10 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1300 North Main St., Bluffton, Ind., with calling one hour prior. Officiated by Fr. Steve Colchin and Fr. Frances Chukwuma. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 12, 2012, at Goodwin Memorial Chapel, 3220 East State Road 124, Bluffton, Ind. A rosary service will be held Thursday evening, immediately following visitation at 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be at Elm Grove Cemetery in Bluffton.
