MARY L. GEAR, 86, of Van Wert, Ohio, formerly of New Haven, Ind. passed away Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 6:55 p.m. at Van Wert County Hospital, Van Wert, Ohio. Born June 2, 1926 in Jackson Township, Van Wert County, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Wilma (Kerns) DuVall. She was Homemaker and member of First United Methodist Church, Van Wert, Ohio; United Methodist Women; American Red Cross Volunteer at the Van Wert County Hospital; Volunteered at Church United Clothing Bank; Avid I. U. Basketball fan and enjoyed traveling. She married Jack R. Gear, Aug. 10, 1947. He preceded her in death on June 15, 2004. Surviving are her children, John (Donna) Gear of Dallas, Ga.; Mark Gear of Middle Point, Ohio; Dale Gear of Middle Point, Ohio; Carol Gear of Auburn, Ind.; sisters, Alice (Paul) Shank of Middle Point, Ohio; Ruth Tribolet of Van Wert, Ohio; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a son, Carl Gear; brothers, otis and Harold DuVall; and sister, Margaret Horstman. Funeral Service is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at Alspach - Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert, Ohio. Rev. Paul Miller and Pastor Jason Gear officiating. Visitation is 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at the funeral home. Burial at Ridge Cemetery, Middle Point, Ohio. Preferred memorials to First United Methodist Church or Donors' Choice.
