RALPH T. GAREY SR., 91, passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at the VA Medical Center, in Boise, Idaho. Born in Fort Wayne, he was an Army World War II veteran and worked at Fruehauf Trailer for 33 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree and the American Legion Post 178 in Garrett. He loved seeing his grandchildren and was an avid bowler. Surviving are his son, Tom (Fely) Garey of Fort Wayne; daughters, Ilene (Bill) Allmond of Meridian, Idaho, Midge (Charlie) Joseph of Auburn, Cindy (Dan) Zimmerman of Huntington, Marsha (Alan) Mertz of Noblesville, Krista (Jacob) Kelly of Fort Wayne, and Alex Garey of Chicago, Ill.; sister, Loretta Longsworth of Kendallville; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Martha Garey; first wife, Mary Garey; and sister, Rosella Johnson. Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012, at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road, with a Rosary recited at 4 p.m. Burial in Highland Park Cemetery. Memorials to Catholic Charities or Masses.
