EMILDA H. GERBER, 83, of Decatur, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012, at Adams Memorial Hospital. Born Jan. 23, 1929, in Jay County, Ind., she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Florence (Freund) Schindler. She married Clyde L. Gerber on July 10, 1948; he died on April 29, 2006. She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and worked as a homemaker. She is survived by six sons, John C. Gerber of Marysville, Wash., Daniel N. Gerber of Decatur, Thomas A. Gerber of Fort Wayne, Joseph C. Gerber of Perrysburg, Ohio, Mark A. Gerber of Peru, Ind., and Steven C. Gerber of Decatur; three daughters, Constance J. (John) Christophersen of Fort Wayne, Susan K. (M. Charles) Eckhart of Decatur, and Sharon A. Luarde of Rocky River, Ohio; five sisters, Pauline Miller of Decatur, Ladonna Homan of Ft. Recovery, Ohio, Betty Greaf of Waynedale, Jeanette Grieshop of Ft. Recovery, Ohio, and Joann Wendel of Portland; 21 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. She was also preceded in death by her son, Eric L. Gerber; a brother, Irvin Schindler; and two sisters, Margaret Kieser and Ruth Knapke. Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, with visitation one hour prior in the St. Mary's Parish Hall. Father David Voors presiding. Visitation also from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home, with a reciting of the Holy Rosary at 2:30 p.m. Burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
