RUTH ANN PHILLIPS, 81, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home. Born Aug. 2, 1931, in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Koneta Roembke. She graduated from Central High School in 1949. Her professional career was as a Secretary at Lincoln Life, Harvester and finally Fort Wayne Community Schools. She retired after 23 years of service from Blackhawk Middle School. She had been a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church for the last 18 years with her formative years as a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Don Phillips; daughter, Barbara Choka-Snider (John) and Michael Phillips, both of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Andy and Matt Choka and Avery and Grant Phillips; stepgrandchildren, Sarah and Laura Snider; and one great grandchild, Mason. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Carl, Paul and Robert Roembke; and sisters, Dorothy Roembke and Juanita Schiemann. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 1126 S. Barr St., Fort Wayne with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Mark Neubacher and Pastor Richard Maassel officiating. Visitation will also be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2012 at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Preferred memorials to Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home or Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
