JAMES R. HEINY, 89, of Greeneville, Tenn., died Friday, Dec. 21, 2012 at Blount Memorial Hospital in Maryville, Tenn. He was born in 1923 a son of the late John A. and Helen Follis Heiny in Fort Wayne, and was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Fort Wayne. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1942 and is a veteran of World War II and received an honorable discharge in 1946. He graduated from St. Joseph College in 1946 and married his childhood sweetheart Joan Klingenberger. He moved to Greeneville, Tenn. in 1967 with his wife and three children. He retired from Philips-Magnavox in 1987 after 34 years of service. He was an active member of Notre Dame Catholic Church in Greeneville, Tenn. for 44 years and a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus. Surviving are his three children, Dr. Jerome (Barbara Pack) Heiny of Maryville, Tenn., Jane Heiny Miller of Maryville, Tenn., and Jay (Kathleen Murphy) Heiny of Oakland, N. J.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Tom and Jorene Heiny of Fort Wayne, and Dick and Orla Heiny of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two sisters-in-law, Rita (Dick Curtis) Klingenberger of Rome City, Ind., and Margaret Klingenberger of Fort Wayne. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Jane Klingenberger Heiny; two brothers, Eugene Heiny and John Heiny. Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2012 at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Greeneville, Tenn. Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012 at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be family and the Knights of Columbus. The family requests that donations and memorial contributions to be made to Alzheimer's Tennessee Inc. at 2270 Sutherland Ave., Suite 202, Knoxville, Tenn. 37919 or to Blount Memorial Hospice at 1095 East Lamar Alexander Parkway, Maryville, Tenn. or Notre Dame Catholic Church of Greeneville, Tenn.
