SHERYL LYNN KNAPP, 63, passed away on Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, at Parkview Hospital , Fort Wayne. Born in Allen County, she graduated from Woodlan High School in 1967 where she was an honor student. She played first chair clarinet and also piano in Woodlan's Jazz Band. She was employed in the offices of Woodburn Diamond Die, Klerner O'Rourke Realty and Jim Kelly. The illnesses of anorexia, bulimia, bi polar disorder and schizophrenia claimed her in her early twenties and sent her to the hospital many times. If effort counts, she merits first place for trying. She was a diligent, cheerful person and had many wonderful friends until she could no longer get around. She has remained a pleasant and devoted family member. Surviving are her mother, Iris Mae Knapp of Harlan; sister, Trudy (Tony) Phipps of Harlan; sister, Janis Grote of Union City; brother, Chuck (Jacque) Knapp of Mesa, Ariz.; sister-in-law, Janine Knapp of Fort Wayne; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Junior Wayne Knapp; and brother, Barry Knapp. Funeral is 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, with calling from noon to 2 p.m. The Rev. Dave Atchley officiating. Burial in Scipio Cemetery, Harlan.
