EDWARD J. ROGERS, 81, of New Haven, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at home surrounded by his family. "He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather." He had a strong devotion to Jesus, and the Blessed Virgin Mary. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church New Haven Holy Name Society. He was a true fan of Notre Dame football, and the Notre Dame marching band. He enjoyed golfing and his garden. He retired from Magnovox after 32 years of service. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Alvina; sons, Wayne (Mary Anne) and Dave (Kim) Rogers of Fort Wayne; daughter, Helen Arens of New Haven; grandchildren, Emily Rogers, Jeffrey and Matthew Arens, Pamela Bacon, and Joel and Alex Rogers; great-grandchildren, Zachary, Tyler, and Owen Arens, and Taydem Bacon; and sister, Mary Quetsch of Mclean, Va. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Ellen Rogers; and parents, Edward and Helen Rogers. Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Haven, with calling one hour prior. The Rev. James Seculoff officiating. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road. Burial in St. John Catholic Cemetery, New Haven.
