CAROLYN KETTLER ASHOURI, 58, of Lafayette, Ind., died on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born Oct. 21, 1954, in Fort Wayne, she was a daughter of the late Roland Lynn Schafer and Janet Bosworth Schafer Chronister. Carolyn graduated from Purdue University with a B.S. in Home Economics in 1977. She attended the McCormick Theological Seminary, University of Chicago and received a Masters of Divinity in 1987. She was an avid reader, loved to cook and most of all, nurtured those around her. She is survived by her beloved husband, Amer; two sons, Adam and Zachary; five sisters, Susan S. Burke, Elizabeth S. Shuck, Julia S. Tipton, Barbara S. Ceresa, and Sue Molick; two brothers, Tom Chronister, and Jack Chronister; and 18 nieces and nephews. "She was devoted to her family and her home. She will always be in her family's heart and will forever be missed." A Celebration of Life service is 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, with visitation from 1 to 3 p.m., at First Presbyterian Church, 300 W. Wayne St., Fort Wayne.
