EVELYN LOUISE FRANKS, 91, died on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home, Fort Wayne. Born in Shreve, Ohio, she worked in the government rationing office during World War II. A past Girl Scout leader, Evelyn studied birds, astronomy, medical books, and current events throughout her life. Her home with Ralph was a gathering place for family and friends. "Evelyn's abiding faith in God has been, and will continue to be, a guiding presence for those who knew her." Surviving are her husband of almost 74 years, Ralph Leroy Franks; daughter, Karen Ann (Dr. Roy) Goethe of Midland, Mich.; grandchildren, Rodney William (Mary) Walker of Houghton Lake, Mich. and Rev. Justin James (Rev. Jessica Rivera) Walker of Holland, Mich.; and great-grandchildren, Ben Mallett and Mason Elizabeth Walker, both of Houghton Lake, Mich. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Cleveland and Effie Hazel Cliffe; brothers, Roy and James Cliffe; and sister, Arlene Cliffe. Memorial service is 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at Georgetowne Place, 1717 Maplecrest Road, with the Rev. Karl Frincke officiating.
