ELIZABETH LOUISE "BETTY" (WILCH) SCHROEDER, 73, of Arlington, Ohio passed away at 2:40 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013 at the Bridge Hospice Care Center. She was born Dec. 9, 1939 in Bluffton, Ohio a daughter of the late Orlin and Esther (Schaller) Wilch. She married Robert H. Schroeder on June 19, 1960 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jenera, Ohio. On December 31, 1939 Betty was baptized and on May 10, 1953 confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jenera. Betty was a 1957 graduate of Cory-Rawson High School. Following graduation she worked for six years at The Ohio Bank before leaving in 1963 to raise her family. Over a 30 year span she also helped 106 families raise their children with her in-home daycare, retiring in 1995. She also served on the county board of elections for over 11 years. Throughout her 16 year battle with cancer, she continued to put others' needs ahead of her own. "Never to complain, she fought hard and was an inspiration to many." In the later years she continued to mission by sending cards and visiting those in nursing homes. Surviving are their four children, Kathryn Ann (Kevin) Sheets of Gahanna, Ohio; John Robert (Sylvia) Schroeder of Arlington, Ohio; David Wayne (Jill) Schroeder of Winona Lake, Ind., and Carol Elizabeth (Robert) Roth of Findlay, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Emily, Morgan and Melissa Sheets; Kristin Schroeder; Thomas and Jacob Schroeder and Matthew Roth; a sister, Dorothy Taiclet of Tallmadge, Ohio; and two brothers, Paul (Jane) Wilch of Jenera, Ohio and Howard (Nancy) Wilch of Findlay, Ohio. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Kevin Sheets, Jr. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, with calling two hours prior. Pastor Jeffery Bolwerk officiating. Visitation also from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013 at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay, Ohio and then will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2013 at Crates Funeral Home, Arlington, Ohio. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Patient Services, Bridge Hospice or Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in her memory.
