DOROTHY I. HEALEY, 93, died on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, at Heritage Pointe, Warren, Ind., where she had been a resident since 2009. Born April 24, 1920, in Geneva, Ind., she was the daughter of the late Ira and Leatha Martz. She grew up in Fort Wayne and lived there until moving to Warren, Ind. During WWII, she worked at the Wayne Knitting MIll and sewed seams in silk stockings. Later in life, she worked for L.S. Ayres and Sears making draperies and also sewed Sonabouy parachutes for the HelMar company. She was well known for making the best apple pies around, which she gave away generously to neighbors, friends and family. She met her husband, Wallace W. Healey, at Westminster Presbyterian Church and they were married Nov. 9, 1946. She remained a life long member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. They were married 53 years, and he preceeded her in death in August, 2000. She is survived by daughter, Shirley (Mrs. Eric) Harman of Huntington; grandchildren, Megan Callahan of Chicago, Ill., Michelle (Mrs. Trevor) Lee of Denver, Colo., David (Stacy) Callahan of Fort Wayne, Phillip Harman of North Webster, Ind., Jennifer (Mrs.Brian) Kozel of Evergreen, Colo., Valerie (Mrs. Lucas) Rumple of Fort Wayne and Eric J. Harman of Warsaw; nine great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Caitlyn, Ayla, Ella, Christopher, Cark, Grace, Beckett and Clark; sister-in-law, Bert Martz; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Ira J. Martz, Raymond Martz, Robert Martz and Lee Martz; great-grandson, Landon David Callahan; and three sisters-in-law. Funeral Service is 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road with calling one hour prior.
