GERALD "JERRY" D. MUSGRAVE, 81, of Fort Wayne, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at his home. He was a loving husband to his wife, Kay Dennison Musgrave for nearly 60 years. He was born on May 5, 1932 in Hammond, Ind. He was a polio survivor and orphaned while in his teens. While serving during the Korean War, he met his wife while stationed in Washington, D.C. They moved to Highland in 1958. He retired after 37 years, from NIPSCO and quickly began volunteering for Habitat for Humanity. He helped build 17 houses in Hammond. In 2000, he moved to Fort Wayne. While the idea of helping Habitat typically brings to mind swinging hammers and raising walls, Jerry volunteered at the Habitat's ReStore. He loved sharing stories about all the donated items. He also served on the board. An avid woodworker, he loved building and sharing what he made. Boasting about his organized and clean garage was something that gave him pride. He was a warm and outgoing person. He was a member of St. Joseph United Methodist Church. He is loved and dearly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Kay Dennison Musgrave; four children, Karen (Tom Stephan) Musgrave, David (Emily) Musgrave, Rebecca (Mike) Scott, and Shari (Jim Coleman) Musgrave; six grandchildren, Jeremiah (Sang Meong Lee) Stephan, Nathaniel Stephan, Jennifer Scott (Arturo) Miramontes, Sara Scott, Rachel Scott, and Jason Scott; and four great-grandchildren, Tyler Stephan, Alexis Miramontes, Makayla Scott, and Cameron Roby II. Memorial service is 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014, at St. Joseph United Methodist Church, 6004 Reed Road, with calling one hour prior. Pastor Russ Abel officiating. Calling also from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2014, at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fort Wayne Habitat for Humanity ReStore, 3837 N. Wells St., Fort Wayne; or St. Joseph United Methodist Church, 6004 Reed Road, Fort Wayne. Arrangements by D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home. To sign the online guestbook, visit
