GENE LOUIS QUICKERY, 91, of Fort Wayne, went to be with his Savior Friday, March 21, 2014. He was born May 7, 1922 in Allen County, Ind., a son of Louis and Clara Augusta (Dennis) Quickery. Gene served his country and was a veteran of World War II. He retired from International Harvester in Fort Wayne in 1981 after 30 years of service. He also retired from over 20 years of service at Sycamore Hills Golf Course in 2012 at the age of 90. His favorite past times were spending time with family, traveling, being outdoors, fishing, and golfing. He was a member of Sycamore Hills Golf Course and was skilled and well known for his golf club repair. "Gene was blessed with a wonderful family and many wonderful friends." Surviving is his wife of 43 years, Joyce; sons, Steve Quickery of Fort Wayne/ Urbana, Ohio, Tom Quickery of Palm Springs, Fla., and Jules Bryan Mettert of Fort Wayne; daughters, Sharon Kirkpatrick of Churubusco, and Carol Steinbach of Fort Wayne; he was also blessed with 16 grandchildren, Candy, Christina, Chuck, Steven, Shannon, Jackie, Ashley, Elliott, Casie, Shawn, Tammy, Michelle, Corina, Amber, Julie, and Jessica; along with 22 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Clara, Richard, Bob, and Wilbur. Service is 10 a.m. Friday, March 28, 2014 at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, Winchester Road Chapel, 6424 Winchester Rd. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 27, 2014 at the funeral home.
