CECELIA M. SHELBY, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 23, 2014, at Kingston Care Center. Born Aug. 14, 1940, in Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Haywood and Magdalene Outlaw. "Granny (as she was affectionately known by many) was a loving sister, mother and grandmother who cherished time with her family. Her strength, wisdom and loving nature will be missed." Cecelia retired from The Rib Room in 2005. In her retirement, she enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition, 'Granny' was very passionate about assisting those in need; she was quick to feed the hungry and generously donated to area food banks. Surviving are her four children, Wilbert G. (Dawn) Shelby, Myra Shelby (Thomas) Scott, and Michele Shelby, all of Fort Wayne, and Sabrina Shelby Myers of Evansville, Ind.; grandchildren, Tyrus, Tyray, Tiffany, Devon, Kenneth, Melissa, Jonathan, DuJuan, and Trey; loving brothers, Howard Outlaw, Clayborne (Carolyn) Outlaw, Milton (Ellen) Outlaw, and John (Tammie) Outlaw; special sisters-in-law, Brenda Outlaw and Shirley (Earl) Ealum; and daughters of heart, Mitzi (Rev. Melvin) Falkner and Inez Pierre-Louis. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Darlene; twin sister, Cecil; and other siblings, Haywood Jr., (twins) Johnny and Joan, and Ray Outlaw. A Celebration of Life service is noon Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church, with calling one hour prior to service. Burial in Highland Park Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church's food bank or to The Fort Wayne Rescue Mission. "The family wishes to thank the caring staff at Heartland Hospice and Kingston Care Center for the comfort, support and love shown to our loved one." Arrangements by Ellis Funeral Home.
