JEWELL TOMEY, 89, passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2014, at Dupont Hospital, Fort Wayne. Born in Monon, Ind., Jewell worked as a cashier with First Stop for four years, retiring in 2007. She also worked at Montgomery Wards for 10 years; Belmont as department manager for 10 years; and Keltsch Pharmacy for 10 years. She loved the outdoors, playing golf, and spending time with her friends. Surviving are her son, James L. (Anna) Tomey of Hondo, Texas; daughter, Mary K. (Robert) Bullard of Fort Wayne; grandsons, James L. (Mary) Tomey II and Vance B. (Brenda) Tomey; four great-grandchildren; special nieces, Debbie, Linda and Sharon; special great nephew, Mikey; special neighbors for over 50 years, Clifford (Bonnie) George of Fort Wayne; and her beloved dog, Dori. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Umphrey and Mary J. Broughman; husband, Byron Tomey; three brothers; and four sisters. Service is 11 a.m. Monday, April 7, 2014, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 7211 Stellhorn Road, with calling one hour prior. The Rev. Dr. C. James Cress officiating.
