MARY ELLEN DUNN HARDISTY, peacefully passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2014. Born in Tipton, Iowa, she lived in Fort Wayne since 1956. A formally educated business person, she was the owner of The Lantern, a business she conceived, built, and managed until her retirement in 1990. Surviving are her twin sons, Errol S. Dunn of Columbia City and Darrel C. (Elaine) Dunn; of Huntertown, Ind.; sister, Claribel Rider of Florida; seven grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Martha Mae (Sanders) Long and James A. Long; grandson, Brent Dunn; first husband, James Dunn; great-granddaughter, Carrington Drake; second husband, Ron Hardisty; brother, Wayne Long of Iowa; sister, Mildred (Long) Schlueter of Iowa; and daughter-in-law, Becky (Rump) Dunn. Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, Winchester Road Chapel, where friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
