MABEL GORRELL SHOUP, 87, went to her Lord on Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Miller's Merry Manor, Fort Wayne. Born in Springfield Township, Ind., Mabel worked as a cook / sales clerk with Sears for 23 years, retiring in 1991. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, and the United Methodist Women for over 50 years. She volunteered for Northeastern Center of Kendallville. Surviving are her sons, Allen (Jeanne) Shoup Fort Wayne and Harvey D. Shoup of Michigan; daughters, Nada (Karen) O'Neal of Fort Wayne, Sarah (Marti) Rustam and Barbara Macintosh, both of California; many grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; brother, Glen (Ione) Gorrell of Hicksville, Ohio; sister Alice Rothermel of Lucerne, Ind.; sisters-in-law, Merle and Betty Gorrell. She was preceded in death by her parents, Doy M. and Daisy Gorrell; husband, Otto C. Shoup; sons, Michael Shoup and Max Shoup; two infant sons; brothers, Harry and Stanley Gorrell; and sisters, Elsie L. Wappes, Lela M. Diltz and Irma Poisel. Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Bethany United Methodist Church, 7715 Sunny Lane, with calling one hour prior.
