JAMES R. VODDE, 71, of Troy, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at Koester Pavilion in Troy. Born Dec. 12, 1942, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late Richard J. and Ruth M. F. (Shaw) Vodde. He proudly served his country in Vietnam as a member of the US Army. On Sept. 29, 1979, in Fort Wayne, he married Debra S. (Baumgardner) Vodde, she survives. Jim obtained an Associate's Degree from Ivy Tech. He was employed by International Harvester in Fort Wayne, and Springfield, Ohio for over 44 years. Jim was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Troy. He was active with the First Place Food Pantry and Youth Group at the church. He was also a member of American Legion in Columbia City. He is also survived by two sons, Micheal (Kris) Vodde of Columbia City and Brandon Vodde of Kissimmee, Fla.; daughter, Tara (Shane) Keechle of Troy; sister, LeAnna Noble of Decatur; and five grandchildren, Cassandra Vodde, Alexandra Vodde, Shannon Andrews, Travis Keechle and Joshua Keechle. He was also preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Al Noble. Funeral service is 2 p.m. Saturday, June 14, 2014 at First United Methodist Church in Troy, Ohio with calling two hours prior. Rev. Dave Leckrone officiating. Friends may also call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 13, 2014 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy, Ohio. Graveside and Honor Guard services will be 1 p.m. Monday, June 16, 2014 at Glenwood Cemetery, Roanoke, Ind.
