THE REVEREND ROBERT FRED SHONHOLZ, 60, passed away Friday, June 13, 2014 at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Born July 8, 1953 in Amityville, N.Y., he was a son of the late Ernest and Marian (Kull) Shonholz-Weiss, who survives. Robert worked in Manhattan, N.Y. for 20 years in international banking. During his tenure as a banker, he felt as though he was being called upon by the Lord to serve in the ministry of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. He obtained his MDiv and was ordained in 1996. After his ordination, he served two congregations in Ohio. He served in the advancement office at the Concordia Theological Seminary for six years. Surviving are his wife, Holly Shonholz of Fort Wayne; sons, Michael (Kristie) Shonholz of Chicago, Ill., and Greg (Chrissy) Shonholz of Washington D.C.; two granddaughters, Addison Shonholz and Baby Girl "L"; two brothers, John Shonholz of Florida and William (Patty) Weiss of Pennsylvania; sisters, Cathy, Dee, Ernie, Patty, and Ginny. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2014 at Concordia Theological Seminary, 6600 N. Clinton St., Fort Wayne; The Reverend Eric Linthicum and The Reverend Paul Grime officiating. Calling is 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne. Preferred memorials may be made to Concordia Theological Seminary- Student Support.
