KAY C. (nee RUSSELL) TRYGG, of Fort Wayne, died on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at Ashton Creek Health & Rehab. Born Dec. 18, 1941, in Muncie, Ind., and shortly moved to Fort Wayne with a long family history. She graduated from North Side High School class of 1960, attended Indiana University (Bloomington), and then was employed by the Allen County Sheriffs Department. She then graduated from Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in Plainfield and became a police officer at IPFW. She then transferred to Fort Wayne Communication Department as a dispatcher for 10 years. She worked in the Detective Bureau and retired from the Crime Scene Division after 26 years in Law Enforcement. Surviving are daughters Kristi Trygg Baker and Kari (Todd) Trygg Hattery; and adored grandchildren, Jordan, Tyler and Kaylee Ahlersmeyer; and twin sisters, Peggy (Randy) Vinson and Sandy (Bill) Kastner. She was preceded in death by infant granddaughter, Karsyn at 15 months old; her parents, Helen Johns Russell and Richard G. Russell (World War II); loving aunt, Peggy McComb Halitsky; and maternal grandparents, Lee and Bess JoKay was a devoted animal lover with devoted concern for their treatment. Her furry best friends were dog, Sophie; and cats, Moxie, Puddy and Taj. Calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 19, 2014, at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave. At Kay's request, a celebration of life will be held at the Acme neighborhood Bar following the private graveside service at Lindenwood Cemetery.
