HAROLD R. McELHOE, 93, of Mishawaka, passed away during the nite of Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at his residence. Born Aug. 10, 1920, in Fort Wayne, he was a son of the late Jesse and Hazel (Wilcox) McElhoe. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in both the European and Pacific theaters. He was honorably discharged in 1945. Harold worked for Fort Wayne Public Transportation as a maintenance superintendent, retiring after 34 years of service. He was a member of Michiana Church of God, and V.F.W. Harold is survived by his son, Steve (Cathy) McElhoe of Fort Wayne; stepdaughter, Darlene (Paul) Buckel of Mishawaka: and two stepsons, Danny (Theresa) Becker of Mishawaka and David (Kathy) Becker of Greenwood, Ind. Harold was the grandfather of 14 and a great-grandfather of 13. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Georgianna McElhoe on Jan. 18, 1964; second wife, Mary K. McElhoe on Nov. 24, 2004; and son, Dick Teeters; in 1996. A memorial service celebrating Harold's life is 1 p.m. Friday, July 11, 2014, at Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka, Ind., where friends may visit with the family from noon to 1 p.m. The Rev. Ervin Mize officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.
