P. KENNETH DUNSIRE, 82, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. Born in Spearhill, Manitoba, Canada, Ken completed his career as an Executive Vice President with Lincoln National Corporation for 11 years, retiring in 1995. He began working at age 15 for Northern Construction in Vancouver, BC, Canada with his grandfather as his boss. After graduation from Burnaby North High School, he continued working for Northern becoming the paymaster for the workers on the DEW line (Distance Early Warning), flying regularly to the Arctic. He then spent 27 years with AVCO Corporation in various management positions, including President of Carte Blanche, a credit card company. During his time with AVCO he was transferred to the U.S. and became a naturalized American citizen. He was a member of the Graham Owners Club International, lifetime member of the Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg Automobile Museum in Auburn, Masons, Shriners, and the Prevost Prouds, a motorhome club. He also served on many boards, including President of the PBS39 Board, President of the Civic Theater Board, President of the Chamber of Commerce Board, and Co-Chair to fund Science Central. He also served on the ACD Museum Board. Ken strongly believed in helping those less fortunate than himself, and created a charitable foundation in order to accomplish this. He loved motorhoming, which he did from the late 1970's to 2008, visiting every U.S. state and Canadian province. He was an antique car collector with a special love for Grahams, of which he had eight. He donated his 1941 Graham Hollywood Supercharged to the ACD Museum. He participated in sports car racing and rallying in Canada and drove a Shelby GT350 for Brown Brothers Motors in Vancouver, BC. Above all else, Ken treasured his family. Surviving are his wife, Stephanie Dunsire of Fort Wayne; daughter, Barbara (Robin) Belanger of Plainfield, Ill.; daughter-in-law, Diana Dunsire of Stanwood, Wash.; granddaughters, Colette (Brian) Liska of Montgomery, Ill., Alison (Joe) Dunsire of Everett, Wash., Lanette (Keith) Semple of Aurora, Ill., and Elizabeth Dunsire of Everett, Wash.; great-granddaughters, Charlotte and Coralynn Liska and Rowan Semple; sister, Janice Henderson of Klamath Falls, Ore.; aunt, Neva Bayliss of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada; mother of Robert and Barbara, Lily Bell Johnston of Plainfield, Ill.; and numerous extended family members in Canada and the U.S. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Margaret Dunsire, born in Buckhaven, Scotland; son, Robert Kenneth Dunsire; and brother, George Dunsire. Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road, with calling one hour prior. Visitation also from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home. Burial to follow.
