MYRON "MIKE" WAYNE WAPPES, 70, of Syracuse, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2014, 8:22 p.m., at his home. Born Oct. 27, 1943, in Fort Wayne, Ind., he was a son of the late Myron A. and Joann (Beltz) Wappes. On Feb. 14, 1964, in Fort Wayne, he married Sandra K. Mace; she survives. Mike worked for 40 years at Pepsi-Cola Co., until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, bowling and walking the Florida beaches. Also surviving are a son, Todd (Julie) Wappes of Fort Wayne; a daughter, Tiffany (Jamie) Prescott of Syracuse; two brothers, John (Nancy) Wappes of Rome City and Steve (Becky) Wappes of LaGrange; seven grandchildren, Chelsea (Joe) Sult, Ciara Wappes, Chloe Wappes, and Ethan Wappes, all of Fort Wayne, Zachary Prescott, Nathan Prescott and Spencer Prescott, both of Syracuse; one great-grandchild, Landon Prescott of Syracuse; and mother-in-law, Mary Mace of Syracuse. He was also preceded in death by his father in-law, Kenneth Mace. A Celebration of Mike's Life is from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Calvary United Methodist Church, 801 S. Huntington St. (State Road 13), Syracuse, Ind. Refreshments will be served. Memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer's Foundation. Arrangements by Elkhart Cremation Services.
