JOHN M. "MIKE" DENNIS, 73, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2014, in Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, Mike graduated from South Side High School in 1959. He served in the U.S. Navy with the helicopter antisubmarine squadron 7 (HS-7) aboard the USS Randolph (CVS-15). He participated in the recovery of astronauts Gus Grissom and John Glenn. He worked at International Harvester for eleven years and for Joint and Clutch for eight years before retiring in 2013 from Midland Haldex after 30 years of service. He was an avid Komet Hockey Fan having had season tickets for 27 years. He also enjoyed collecting classic and antique cars throughout the years. Surviving are his wife, Shelia Dennis of Fort Wayne; children, Tom Dennis of Brookfield, Wis., Joshua Dennis, Christine (Pat) Boles both of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hollie C. and Leona M. Dennis. Service is 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Avenue with calling one hour prior. Chaplain Karen Kosberg officiating. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at the funeral home. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne, Ind.
