RICHARD RAY MILLER, 73, of Camby, died peacefully on Sunday, July 27, 2014, at St. Vincent Hospice, Indianapolis. Born Sept. 26, 1940, in Warsaw, he was a son of the late Ira Ray and Elva Oznola (Montel) Miller. He graduated from Silver Lake High School and attended International Business College, Fort Wayne. Richard proudly served in the United States Air Force. While living in Fort Wayne, he owned a Sunoco Service Station. He was a resident of Ft. Myers, Fla. for 17 years, where he was a volunteer deputy with the Collier County Sheriff's Department. Most recently, he was the Facilities and Grounds Director at Mt. Gilead Christian Church, Mooresville. He will be missed by a loving family and many friends. He married Cheryl (Reasor) Miller on March 12, 1983; she survives. Also surviving are her children, Shelley Lynn Miller (Arthur Nicholas Gerth Jr.) and Randall Ray Miller, both of Portage, Mich. and Valerie Lynn (Joseph W., III) Chaille´ of Carmel; siblings, Toni R. (Terry) Ayres of Leesburg, Ind. and Robert R. (Patricia) Miller of Greenfield; grandchildren, Nicholas (Amber) Gerth III of Fishers, Amanda (Shawn) Walker of LaGrange and Sophia Chaille´ of Fishers; and great-grandchildren, Brooke, Lucas, and Noah. He was also preceded in death by a son, James Loren Buck; and brother, Randall Ray Miller. A service to honor and celebrate Rich's life is 11 a.m. Thursday, July 31, 2014, at Mt. Gilead Christian Church, 6019 East S.R. 144, Mooresville. The Rev. Jeff Faull officiating. Friends and family will gather from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent Hospice or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
