NORMA J. (MACY) BENNETT, 88, passed on peacefully Sunday, Aug. 3, 2014. Born July 3, 1926, in Adrian, Mich., she was a daughter of Taylor and Mildred Mc Kimmy. She moved to Fort Wayne in 1934. She graduated from Most Precious Blood Catholic School in 1940, the year she won the Fort Wayne-Allen County Spelling Contest. She was also a graduate of Central Catholic High School and subsequently worked in the offices of Magnavox Co. until her marriage to Robert E. Macy in 1947. After raising their children, Jim (Lucy), John (Sue), Patti (Barry Vande Zande), and Terri aka "Ralfie" (Chip Blasius), she worked 15 years as church secretary at St. Jude Church, retiring in 1987. She was a charter member of St. Charles Borromeo Church, where she was a Rosary Sodality president, and was also president of the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. She was a Cub Scout den mother, and Girl Scout leader. She was a member of American Legion Post 47 Auxiliary where she held office as Secretary several times. She is survived by a brother, Francis McKimmy of Palmetto, Fla.; sons, Jim of Fort Wayne, John of Marion, Ind.; daughters, Patti Vande Zande of Dillon, Colo. and Terri "Ralfie" Blasius of Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren, Christa Rost, Jamie Macy, Sabrina Hurwitz, Bill Macy, Jackie Macy, Ryan Blasius, and James Blasius; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by first husband, Robert Macy; second husband, Paul Bennett; brother, Bill McKimmy; and sister, Florence Pulver. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11, 2014, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4916 Trier Road, with calling one hour prior. Father Jacob Meyer officiating. Calling also from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014, at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road, with Rosary from 6:45 to 7 p.m. Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery.
