MARY L. DERHEIMER, 73, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, at Lutheran Hospital. Born in Fort Wayne, Mary graduated from Elmhurst High School. She began her working career in the mortgage and loan department at Lincoln National Bank. She then worked at multiple retailers: Nobson and L.S. Ayres. Mary then owned Country Accents & Lighting in Grabill, creating and decorating lamp shades, and multiple craft items. She enjoyed sewing and collecting antiques. She was a member at St. Joseph Catholic Church and their rosary sodality, along with being a lay minister. Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Donald Derheimer of Fort Wayne; children, Karen (Geoffrey) Ash of High Point, N.C., Kevin (Kathy) Derheimer of Fort Myers, Fla., Mary (Donald Thomas) Derheimer of Dallas, Texas, David Derheimer, Steven Derheimer and Christopher (Christine) Derheimer, all of Fort Wayne; granddaughters, Chelsea and Deanna; and brother, Ronald (Barb) VanDiver of Chicago, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Ruth VanDiver; and infant daughter, Ruth Ellen Derheimer. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with calling one hour prior. The Rev. Timothy Wrozek presiding. Calling also from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014, at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, with a vigil service at 4:30 p.m. Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorials may be made to PBS39 at
