BARBARA L. (JEPPESON) FRANKE, 67, of Fort Wayne, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2007, at home. She was born on Nov. 13, 1939, in Crystal Falls, Mich. Raised in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, she moved to New Haven for her senior year of high school (NHHS Class of 1957). She graduated from the Parkview School of Nursing, working as a registered nurse, in Fort Wayne where she met her husband, Gordon R. Franke, M.D.; he preceded her in death. She was a charter member of Messiah Lutheran Church. She loved tennis, traveling, flowers, bird watching, the arts and her many dear friends and neighbors, but she especially loved caring for others. Surviving are her sister, Lynne (William) Winget; five children, Laura Bradford, Amy (Steven) Myers and Courtney (Bradley) Ulrey, all of Fort Wayne, Abbie (Thomas) Fellrath of New Albany, Ohio, and Eric (Kim) Franke of Verona, Wis.; and six grandchildren, Caitlin and Nicholas Myers, Sydney and Jacob Ulrey, and Jordan and Hunter Franke. She was also preceded in death by her father and mother, James and Bernice Jeppeson. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Friday at Messiah Lutheran Church, 7211 Stellhorn Road, with calling one hour prior. Family will receive friends from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road. Interment in Catholic Cemetery. Memorials to National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Chapter for Research.
