WILLIAM "BILL" S. HIEBER, 89, of New Haven, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009, at his home (where he was born) with his family by his side. He was a lifetime member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne and served his church on many boards throughout the years. He was a lifelong dairy farmer, and married for 66 wonderful years to his wonderful wife, Frieda; she survives. He is also survived by his children, Dennis (Judy) Hieber, Donald (friend, Dee) Hieber, and Jane (Ray) Melcher, all of New Haven; and many special nieces and nephews including, Tom (Sharon) McConnell of Woodburn; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and eight step-great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Karl and Frieda (nee, Goeglein) Hieber; and sister, Marie Janecke. Service is 11 a.m. Friday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 7710 E. State Blvd., Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. The Rev. Donald Nord officiating. Calling also from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Burial in the church cemetery. Preferred memorials to St. Peter's Lutheran Church or Heartland Hospice.
