JOHN B. BUNNELL, 48, died Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at home with his family by his side. Born in Dayton, Ohio, he was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, New Haven. The 82nd Airborne U.S. Army veteran was a member of American Legion Post 330, V.F.W. 2457, Navy Club Ship 245, and the Moose Club 2387, Fremont. He had been a truck driver for Wal-Mart for eight years. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Sue; children, Joel B. (fiancé, Brittany) Bunnell and Leesa R. Bunnell, both of New Haven; parents, Rev. Richard E. (Heather) Bunnell of Roanoke and Sandra Hellwege of New Haven; sister, Karen Holliness; and stepsiblings, Erik Olson of Lahaina, Hawaii, Kirstin Bullington of Columbia, S.C., and Patty Edwards of Denver, Colo.; in-laws, Robert and Margaret Mattingly of New Haven; and loveable dogs, Casey and Willow. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lindsey M. Bunnell, in 1992. Service is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 800 Green St., New Haven, with calling one hour prior. The Rev. David Stecker officiating. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Burial in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, New Haven.
