LEO "WAYNE" BYRD, 67, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home. He was born in Centreville, Mich. and graduated from Elmhurst High School. He worked as an electrician with I.B.E.W. Local 305, retiring in 2000. He was an U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church on Cook Road, Fraternal Order of Eagles 248, Mizpah Shrine Temple, and Masonic Temple, Wayne Lodge. He loved fishing, family and especially his grandchildren. Surviving are his loving wife of 48 years, Katherine "Kit" Byrd; daughter, Anita J. (Jon) Lee of Fort Wayne; son, Aron (Angelique) Byrd, of Fredricksburg, Va.; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Jeanette (William) Lubitz of Wisconsin; and brother, Mike (Kim) Kelemen of Michigan. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Adkins, in 2008; sister, Kittie Udvardy; mother, Jessie Collard; and father, Ernest Byrd. Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, Winchester Road Chapel, 6424 Winchester Road.
