RUSSELL E. PARKER, 68, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at St. Joseph Hospital. Born June 20, 1943, he spent his first 13 years near Zanesville, Ind. He then moved to the Wallen area in 1954 and graduated from North Side High School in 1962. He served in the Vietnam conflict with the Navy from 1963 to 1966. He spent several years as an aide at the Allen County Home where he met Nancy and spent a short time working at Fort Wayne State School and GE before spending 40 years at Zollner Corp. Russ and Nancy would have celebrated their 46th anniversary on April 1, 2012. In 2000, he was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia from Agent Orange. The great loves of his life were his grandchildren, son, daughter and in-laws. He was a former foster father, scout leader, and a 4-H leader. He was also a member of the Fort Wayne Gardeners of America, ARBA and American Legion. He spent the last few years of his life helping with 4-H animals, attending auctions and selling produce at SS Market and W. Main. Recently, he spent most of his time driving his new Amish friends. He attended the Church House, Grabill led by Paul Schmucker. He loved to sing and was known as the "church cryer" due to his emotions. His main desire in life was to spread the gospel of the Lord Jesus to as many as possible so they can join him in Heaven someday. He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy (Miller) Parker; son, Shawn (Dawn) Parker of Fort Wayne; daughter, Beth (Chad) Wood of Woodburn; grandchildren, Karlee and Korbin, both of Fort Wayne, and Cody and Christian (CJ), both of Woodburn; sisters, Gwen (Sue) Ellenwood of Fort Wayne and Belma (Mike) Mcinteer of Columbia City; in-laws, Tomme Snyder and Dan and Mary Elias; aunts, Mariann Laing and Janet Marden; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
