DONALD R. THOMPSON, 87, passed away Friday, July 6, 2012 at his home in Fort Wayne. Born in Beloit, Wis., he served in the Army Air Corps during WWII and worked at EcoLab for 35 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church and Gideons International. Besides being an active member of his church, he volunteered for Homebound Meals for 22 years, Fort Wayne Rescue Mission, and the Food Bank. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marian Thompson; son, Gerald L. (Elsie) Thompson of Fort Wayne; daughters, Janice Thompson of Fort Wayne and Nancy (Wayne) Walkowicz of Carol Stream, Ill.; brother, Gerald H. Thompson of Beloit, Wis.; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild on the way. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Susie Thompson; and brother, Richard Thompson. Memorial service is 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Covenant United Methodist Church, 10001 Coldwater Rd with a memorial gathering starting at 11:30 a.m. Memorials to Covenant United Methodist Church.
