PARKER LEE SHELTON JR., 72, of Fort Wayne, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2012 at his residence. He was born May 23, 1940 in Pineville, Ky., the son of the late Parker Lee and Effie (Steele) Shelton Sr. He started out as a professional skier, but took up Karate. He moved to Fort Wayne in 1965, and was the World Karate Champion in the 1970's. He owned and operated four Dojos' in Fort Wayne. Surviving are his daughter, Chantrell Webb of Dayton, Ohio; two nephews, Billy J. (Heather) Shelton Jr. and Parker Lee Shelton, both of Fort Wayne; companion, Stephanie Hanks of Clearwater, Fla.; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice M. Shelton; and son, Ricky Lee Shelton. Memorial service is 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012 at the Parker Shelton Bushido Sports Center, 6125 Cross Creek Blvd., family will greet friends one hour prior to services.
