WILLIAM R. SHODA, 89, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, with his children by his side. He was born in Fort Wayne. He married Shirley E. Woodring on July 20, 1946 after serving in Europe during World War II for the U.S. Army. He was a partner with his brother John from 1946 to 1964 in William Shoda Sons Excava ting and started Shoda Sewer Service in late 1963. He was a member of American Legion Post 47, V.F.W. Jim Eby Post 857, Maumee Lodge No. 725, F. & A.M., Mizpah Temple, and Moose Lodge 200. Surviving are his daughter, Christine (Larry) Studebaker of Fort Wayne; son, Craig (Susan) Shoda of Fort Wayne; brother, Glendon (Mary) Shoda of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Mark, Matthew Studebaker, and Jennifer Spans; and great-grandchildren, Madisen, Mitchell, Juliana, and Malin. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Shirley E. Shoda; and parents, William R. and Izetta F. Shoda. Service is 10 a.m. Thursday at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, with calling one hour prior. Chaplain Robin La Rue officiating. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice or Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control.
