He had been a resident of Saint Anne Home, Fort Wayne since 2003. Having spent his lifetime in the food and produce business, he retired in March of 1997 after 20 years as the Head Produce Buyer and Merchandiser for Scott's Foods, in Fort Wayne. He started in the grocery and produce business with Pangle's Markets, in Lima which grew to 12 stores in western Ohio where Pete was the produce buyer and merchandiser. He was active in research in the 1960's with professors at Ohio State University, studying packaging and handling techniques that led to some of today's packaging materials used for fresh vegetables. He loved to garden and tend to numerous roses, fruit and evergreen trees. At one time, he had over 360 rose bushes encircling his back yard in Ohio. He is survived by his son, Peter "Tony" (Lisa) Taviano, and grandson Joseph of Visalia, Calif.; and his daughter, Tina Taviano (partner, Cheryl Scott) of Ft. Myers, Fla.
