DANNY LEE WIRGES, 62, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, in Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, he work ed for Dana and the Inter national Union for 38 years, retiring in 2007. He hired in to Dana in 1968 in department 372. He held his first stewards position in 1974 and didn't stop there. By 1983, he had held all union positions possibe including three terms as 3rd shift Committeeman and one term as President. In 1984, he became a member of the International Staff for AIW as a Service Representative. He was elected to Regional Director in 1991 servicing union members from Indiana through Texas. He served as Assistant Regional Director while they were Paperworkers and became the Assistant Director in 1996 when they merged with PACE. He has continued as the Assistant Director for district 7 of the United Steelworkers. All-in-all, he felt his experience to be very rewarding and felt a sense of accomplishment for the union. He was a member of the American Legion, in Orland, Ind., and was a past vice president of A.F.L.C.I.O. He enjoyed gardening, gambling and "being the boss". Surviving are his wife, Fran Marie Wirges of Fort Wayne; son, Jamie Rediger of Fort Wayne; daughter, Tina (David) Parris of Fort Wayne; sons, Damion (Devon) Wirges of Fort Wayne and Todd Wirges of Dearborn, Mich.; grandchildren, Brandy (Tony) Beckstedt, Kayla Parris, Casey Parris, Ethan Parris, Malik Wirges, Montana Parris, Camden Wirges, and Zane Wirges; great-grandchild ren, Alivia and Carson; and brother, George (Pat) Wirges Jr. of Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Sr. and Dora Jane Wirges; and granddaughter, Danielle Parris. Service is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home.
