GERALDINE "GERRY" ANKER, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012. Born Oct. 10, 1926, in Calla, Ky. (White Oak Creek), she was the daughter of Carl R. Pelfrey and Ola Howard Pelfrey Rhoades. Gerry was a member of Anthony Wayne First Church of God, the Martha's, and the D.A.V. Auxiliary 40. She volunteered sewing for the church and made hundreds of lap quilts for veterans. A wonderful cook for family and friends, she was most famous for her wonderful pies. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Walter J. Anker; daughter, Brenda Anker Vargo; grandchildren, Seth Vargo (Heather), Elizabeth Vargo, Jennifer Anker, and Wade Vargo; two great-grandchildren, Faith Vargo and Seth Andrew Vargo; sister, Jeanette Ostermeyer; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Walter Brent Anker; and brother, Carl Rexford Pelfrey. Graveside service is 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at Lindenwood Cemetery.
