DR. JAMES R. BERGHOFF, 85, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, in Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, James worked as a Physician for 47 years, retiring in 2001. He was a member in the U.S. Navy serving in World War II. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Rita Berghoff of Fort Wayne; son, James (Julie) Berghoff of Fort Wayne; daughter, Mary (Jim) Soden of Fort Wayne; daughter, Martha (Dan) Slott of Atlanta, Ga.; son, Edward Berghoff of Fort Wayne; daughter, Sarah (Steve) Rashevich of Columbus, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, William Berghoff of Minneapolis, Minn.; sister, Sally O'Hara of Fort Wayne; brother, Tom Berghoff of Indianapolis, Ind.; and sister, Margaret Tate of Kansas City, Kan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Raymond and Kathryn Berghoff. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4816 Trier Road, with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., with a Rosary recited at 4:30 p.m. Burial in Catholic Cemetery.
