DOUGLAS C. LOCKWOOD, 78, of Eel River Township, passed away on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at Kingston Care Center in Fort Wayne. He graduated from New Paris High School in 1952, Indiana Business College in 1954 and also attended I.P.F.W. He was an Army veteran, and retired in 1998 from General Electric after 44 years. He later worked for 12 years at Bentz Transport Products. He was a member of Churubusco United Methodist Church where he held several administrative positions, was past treasurer of Churubusco Lions Club, and served three years as treasurer of Indiana Lions Eye and Tissue Transplant Bank. He enjoyed cutting wood and other outdoor activities, and enjoyed wintering in Cape Coral, Fla. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Janis (Keller) Lockwood; daughter, Charla (Keith) Bentz of Zionsville; son, Stephen D. (Kimberly) Lockwood of New Albany; brother, Paul D. (Brenda) Lockwood of Syracuse; sister, Mary (Leonard) Ropp of Greer, S.C.; and grandson, Noah Andrew Lockwood. He was preceded in death by his parents, Orval and Orpha (Routson) Lockwood; and brothers, Phillip and Robert Lockwood. Service is 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013 at Churubusco United Methodist Church, with calling one hour prior. Pastor Dennis A. Shock officiating. Calling also from 2 to 8 p. m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013 at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco, with a Lions Club memorial service at 7:30 p.m. Burial with military graveside rites in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne. Memorials to the church; Indiana Lions Eye and Tissue Transplant Bank, Indianapolis; or Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.
