GERTRUDE E. DICKERSON, 97, of Decatur, passed away 5:46 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Woodcrest Nursing Center. She was born May 25, 1915 in New Orleans, La. the daughter of the late Louis G. Webert and Lillian (Johnson) Webert. She married Glen Dickerson on Oct. 10, 1940 in the Zion Lutheran Church, Decatur, and he passed away on Feb. 19, 1982. Gertrude was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Decatur; a former president of the Missionary Society and was instrumental in starting the Prayer Circle at the church. She was a member of the Delta Theta Tau Sorority in Decatur; former secretary of the Decatur Women's Club; and a member of the Research Club in Decatur. She was proud of her collection of Thimbles, numbering approximately 250, and also enjoyed collecting postcards. She had worked for Graham Abstract Company and was a homemaker. Surviving are her daughters, Becky (David) Creek of Elkhart, Ind. and Betsy Dickerson of Decatur; her son, Jon C. (Robbie) Dickerson of Dickinson, Texas; two grandchildren, Joel (Charity) Creek and Daniel (Amanda) Creek; four great-grandchildren, Jacob and Katlyn Benjamin, and Joshua Creek. She was preceded in death by one brother, Louis Webert. Service is 11 a.m. Friday, March 8, 2013 at the Zion Lutheran Church, Decatur, with calling one hour prior at the church. Rev. Philip Phifer officiating. Visitation also from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Ind. Burial at Decatur Cemetery.
