RALPH K. "GRIF" GRIFFITH, 87, of Port Orange, Fla., passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at home. He was a U.S. Navy World War II Combat veteran and retired electrician. He was born in Fort Wayne. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the Navy and served on Minesweeper DMS 9 in the Pacific, participating in action at Leyte, Lingayam and Iwo Jima. He received five Bronze Stars. He worked for Henry / Long Electrical Contracting Firm in Fort Wayne for 42 years. He was a member of IBEW Local 305. He was also a charter member of American Legion Post 499 and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3282, in Port Orange, Fla. He enjoyed dancing, swimming, boating, and golf. Surviving are his daughter, Dianne (Bruce) Hagen of Fort Wayne; sons, Keith Griffith of Decatur and David (Patricia) Griffith of Grimes, Iowa; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Grace; and great-granddaughter, Kennedy Griffith. Memorial service is 10 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2013, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 7910 W. Cook Road, Fort Wayne.
