ROBERT E. MEYER, 85, of Decatur, died on Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at Adams Memorial Hospital. Born Dec. 20, 1927, in Adams County, Ind., he was a son of the late Arthur C. and Beulah (Nichols) Meyer. On May 13, 1950, he married Helen J. Geimer; she preceded him in death on March 10, 2012. Bob was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, the K of C where he was a 4th Degree and past Grand Knight, American Legion Post 43 Color Guard and Past Commander and also a member of Korean Vets and Federal Order of Police. He retired from International Harvester after 22 years of service. He served during the Korean War in the United States Air Force. Survivors include two sons, David E. (Kathy) Meyer of Yoder and Eric A. "Keebie" (Tammy) Meyer of St. Augustine, Fla.; a daughter, Linda J. (Kent) Daniels of Decatur; six grandchildren, Nathan and Michael Meyer, Ashley (Meyer) Shifferly, Scott Meyer, Rachael Nowak and Kristi (Daniels) Lengerich; and three great-grandchildren, Kaylee McCann, Landon Danels and Allison Lengerich. He was also prededed in death by a son, Michael R. Meyer; a brother, Steven Meyer; and two sisters, Virginia Carey and Judy DesJean. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Monday, July 22, 2013, at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior. Seminarian Royce Gregerson officiating. Visitation also from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 21, 2013, at the funeral home, with reciting of the Holy Rosary 3:30 p.m. Burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, with Military graveside rites by American Legion Post 43.
