WILLIAM F. KAMMEYER, 95, of Woodburn, passed away 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, 2013 at The Cedars in Leo. He was born Aug. 13, 1918 in Allen County, Ind. a son of the late Ernst and Louise (Roemke) Kammeyer. He married Meta Fuhrmann on Feb. 19, 1944 in the St. John Lutheran Church-Bingen in Decatur, Ind. He was a member of the Chirst Lutheran Church in Woodburn, where he had been the former financial secretary; elder; school board member; and secretary of the congregation. William was a member of the Farm Bureau; enjoyed woodworking, reading, computers, and playing euchre. He was a lifelong farmer, retiring in 2000 after 66 years of farming; was a self-employed carpenter, working part-time for Bruggemann Lumber - Milan Center from 1980 to 2000. Surviving are his wife, Meta Kammeyer of Woodburn; son, Dr. William A. (Sharon) Kammeyer of Fort Wayne; daughter, Susan E. (Michael) Lothamer of Woodburn; son, Jay R. (Andrea) Kammeyer of Fortville, Ind.; sister, Ida Gick of Auburn; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, John Kammeyer; and brother, Edwin Kammeyer. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013 at Christ Lutheran Church, 4412 Park St., Woodburn, with viewing one hour prior. Pastor Tim Edwards officiating.
